But when Henry I dies in 1135, Stephen of Blois, his nephew, gets to England first and proclaims himself king, she returns to England, lands in Arundel, and actively seeks to win in battle, as a contemporary chronicle, History of the Dukes of Normandy and the Kings of England, declares:
